Fashion City York is a fantastic initiative that is working to drive footfall to York, and celebrate all things fashion across the City. It’s ran by a steering group of business owners in York, and I’d heard that they were looking for some marketing support, and was keen to get involved!
The opportunity to work with fashion was tempting enough, but what an amazing opportunity to collaborate with some great business minds too – especially for a relatively new business, like NIMA.
Step one of getting involved was a rebrand. A new logo, new brand guidelines and a new website were in order! We wanted to take Fashion City York from being a one off event, and turn it into a bigger platform that could be used all year round. We wanted to see something fresh and modern, that could encapsulate the feel of a glossy, fashion magazine.
Once the new website was live, we started work on connecting with businesses across York. We wanted to connect with the high street and independent retailers, and make sure they knew all of their options on how they could get involved. We needed writers and photographers to work beside us, and worked on boosting the dormant FCY social media channels to give us the run up needed for the annual event, “Six Days of Style”.
With events confirmed, and businesses signed up to offer discounts and special offers to our audience, it was time to get to work on the FCY Glossy! An events programme for Six Days of Style, masquerading as a fashion magazine. A compilation of events, articles, and special offers that would give any visitor to York all they needed to attend the Six Days of Style event. Working on such a comprehensive piece of literature also gave us the opportunity to collaborate with Olivia Brabbs Photography, Zumo Juice Design, and Ink Blot Media for our beautifully illustrated map of York!
So, the website was live, the literature had been printed, the businesses had signed up. Now came the Six Days of Style…
