We are incredibly proud to be a driving force in creating York Fashion Week - the ultimate celebration of fashion, style and creativity in York. A week of workshops, runway shows, lectures and pop-ups, with the aim of celebrating creativity from across the fashion industry.
York Fashion Week has been a huge passion project for the NIMA team. An amazing opportunity to collaborate with local businesses, support the grassroots fashion scene and work on really driving footfall into York City Centre.
Our role in the week has been diverse since founding the event in 2018. We started with the branding of YFW, before developing a website that could act as a central point for guests to purchase tickets, designers to express their interest in participating, models to submit their applications for shows, and for the press to gain any background information they might require.
This then evolved into event curation, as we began work on bringing together 60 events that could excite, entertain and educate our audience. We developed a schedule for the week that could make sense to our guests, whilst also being dynamic enough to generate PR and press interest across Yorkshire and the North East.
It was then time to focus our attentions on the Event Programmes, that were eventually designed by our Creative Director. Mark developed a beautiful brochure that mirrored that of a fashionable glossy magazine, and was distributed across the city as part of our marketing strategy. Due to popularity, we eventually distributed 7000 brochures.
PR and marketing was and always is a crucial role in this project. We need to deliver a strategy that can drive growth in the event, encourage sponsorship and truly excite the audience. NIMA runs all customer communication including newsletters and social media in the build up to the event, and across the week itself.
Luckily, we can collaborate with some fantastic professionals on this project. We’re very proud to have Olivia Brabbs as our Head of Photography, and Sonia Schofield as our Head of Hair and Make-Up. In fact, over 350 different people worked on York Fashion Week 2019.
This project is incredibly important to NIMA, and we’re very excited to share our even bigger plans for 2020. Fashion is theatre and fun – and YFW will mirror this perfectly.

And many more!
We approached NIMA in 2015 to help with the marketing strategy and implementation for Fashion City York. The team at NIMA have done a fabulous job and exceeded our expectations.
NIMA started with a redesign of the website for Fashion City York and put together a marketing strategy for FCY and for our annual fashion event – which in April 2018 led to the launch of York’s first ever Fashion Week! Again, the team at NIMA designed a fabulous website for this, which reflected the brand perfectly. We also received a lot of positive comments about it from visitors to the site.
NIMA have also looked after the social media, PR and design of the York Fashion Week brochure.
Not only is all the work of a very high standard, the team at NIMA are a real pleasure to work with. They understand exactly what is required and give a great service. Above all – they really care and go the extra mile. Their positive and flexible approach is a huge plus point too.
A great deal of the success of Fashion City York and York Fashion Week is down to NIMA and their contribution to this initiative. We are delighted to be working with them going forward and are looking forward to Fashion Week 2019!
